REFLECTIVE ADDRESS SIGNS
- Did you know that Palm Beach Town Code requires all homeowners or occupants to display their house numbers so they can be easily seen from an adjacent street? Can your house be found quickly – in an emergency – when every second counts? Especially at night? To find out – drive up and down your street and put yourself in the position of an emergency responder trying to find your house in the dark. The Palm Beach Police Department and Palm Beach Crime Watch, Inc. offers Reflective Address Signs. These are permanent, weatherproof and highly reflective. Your sign will come ready for installation with its own 30” yard mount. Signs are available for a donation of $30 to Palm Beach Crime Watch, Inc. Please call 838-5467 for more information.
RIP CURRENT AWARENESS
The Palm Beach Police Department is conducting an ongoing public awareness campaign about the dangers of rip currents. Rip currents are powerful, channeled currents of water flowing away from shore. They typically extend from the shoreline, through the surf zone, and past the line of breaking waves. Rip currents can occur at any beach with breaking waves. Signs of rip currents - Discoloration of water – seaweed or debris stuck in same place – water noticeably calmer – could be unusual chop.
The greatest safety precaution is swimming at guarded beaches. In Palm Beach guarded beaches include the midtown beach from Peruvian to Brazilian Avenues and Phipps Ocean Park. Since so many condominium residents and their visitors and guests use unguarded beaches a public awareness campaign for condominiums is especially valuable.
The Palm Beach Police Department will provide condominiums, hotels, and other waterfront properties with Rip Current Awareness posters and/or metal signs suitable for attaching to a beach access fence or gate. There is no charge for this service. Please call (561) 838-5467 for information or to request Rip Current Awareness posters and metal signs.
